You notice there are more and more floods? The glaciers are melting pretty fast- so theres more moisture in the atmosphere...
Mood:  a-ok
Now Playing: Floods -floods and more floods.
Topic: Global Warming
I live in Pennsylvania- and 46 of 67 counties in my state are under Disaster status via order of the Govenor. New Jersey, New York both are in same circumstances- its just nasty out there. A Nasty storm- that wasn't even a hurricane trotted up the east coast deluging everything for a couple days. Its a mess. Kilamanjaro over in Africa was a glacier when I visited it in the early 80's- now its ice capped top- is almost completely denuded of the beautiful white snows. In a few years there will be no snows on Kilamanjaro.
I really really really- wanted to move my family to Miami, FLA- But theres no way in light of the massive and almost continuous hurricanes that smashed through the Gulf region last year- that idea is completely out of the question. The size and strength of the hurricanes- category 5 -the largest category-by the way- and the certainty that more of them are coming -hurricane season after hurricane season- precludes even visiting the place during the season.
Floods in the East, massive hurricanes in the Gulf coasts, and no end in sight- to the rising of the seas-because of the accelerated melting of the polar ice caps(the scientists are unpleasantly surprised at the accelerated melts-because while they knew about it- they had no idea that it was so bad..).

Things are going to be interesting in this particular next generation- Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth"- says that we still have time- and he's optimistic-because he thinks we still have time. I like All Gore. I think that our nation wouldn't be banckrupt had he been President. I think that our military wouldn't be so beat up (for no good reason) and I think that America's position in the world at this moment would have been stronger than it is now.
But I disagree with AL Gore. I don't think we have any more time. I think we are already past teh tipping point- of being able to change the warming that has already happend and that becasue nothing in our behavior has changed- but has actually gotten worse in teh last 6 years because the lack of oversight and laxity of the few regulations that had been in effect- have increased teh situation. What is going to happen to us- is already in motion and we are going to reap what we sowed.
It's not going to be good for us-
More and worse floods are in our futures- if you live on a flood plain you better get the fuck out- it's not gonna get better. And I bet in my lifetime- that a new category of hurricanes is going to be created- Category 6 will be the new one- because the category 5 is being maxed out and the Atlantic is getting warmer-with less ice in it.. the Carribean is getting warmer and warmer- and this temp is what feeds the African hurricanes.
